Latin to English
A-Z of Latin Names, including
English name where applicable.
I have a feeling this could
be a long and tortuous process as I set about naming all of the
plants and trees I have on file. Please be patient!!!
Underlined names are
clickable, and open up an image of that particular species.
All info is in good faith,
but I've been as accurate as I can be - the info that is my own
experience will almost definitely need taking with a pinch of salt
depending on where you live (I'm in Stockport, near Manchester,
so southern folk may need to apply some common sense with their
own climes). Some of the info is also from the "RHS ENCYCLOPAEDIA
OF PLANTS AND FLOWERS", available from RHS book shops, good
retail bookshops, and via the RHS website (www.rhs.org.uk).
Nothing has been directly plagarised, as far as possible, but info
from there has been used - it is the best reference material I have
come across, and I would heartily recommend purchasing it! There
is also some information from the "FLORA BRITANNICA" by
Richard Mabey, which is a beautifully presented book with information
about species found wild in the country, and the folklore surrounding
them.
